Pacific Southwest District of the Wesleyan Church:
Core Values Statement, May 2006

District Office Information

As part of our commitment to The Wesleyan Church worldwide, the Pacific Southwest District of The Wesleyan Church has identified 9 specific core values that are essential to our decision making. They form the basis for why we do what do:

1. THE LORDSHIP OF JESUS CHRIST: We are dedicated to keeping Christ on the throne and obediently following his life and teachings as the model for our lifestyle. This core value is the source of all that follows.

2. BIBLICAL AUTHORITY: We have an uncompromising commitment to the truth, authority, and reliability of God’s Word as the guide to our faith and lifestyle.

3. RELIANCE ON THE HOLY SPIRIT: We recognize the essential need of the anointing of the Holy Spirit to enable believers to live holy lives and to empower them for ministry!

4. EVANGELISTIC OUTREACH: The Great Commission calls us to diligent ministry in the making of fully devoted disciples of Jesus Christ in the local church and beyond.

5. EMPOWERMENT OF LAY MINISTRY: We believe in equipping lay
people, as members of the priesthood of believers, to answer the call to local church ministry and mission.

6. REGIONAL CHURCH PLANTING: We are committed to the priority of birthing new churches because we recognize this as one of the most effective methods of reaching people for Christ across ethnic, cultural, and national lines.

7. COMPASSIONATE STEWARDSHIP: We are grateful for the financial and spiritual resources God has given us, and we are determined to use these resources to maximize our potential in reaching the world for Christ.

8. PASTORAL LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT: We are committed to the encouragement of our pastoral leadership by providing opportunities for the development of their character and competence.

9. PRAYER: Prayer is the breath of the Church. We are awed by its power and are passionate in our practice of prayer as the foundation of all we do.
